TAIPEI (Asia Tech Desk): Foxconn has announced a plan to establish a new headquarters complex in Kaohsiung as part of its broader development strategy for southern Taiwan. The company confirmed that it will allocate T$15.9 billion, equivalent to roughly $510 million, for the project.
Foxconn stated that the headquarters site will include commercial and office facilities along with a residential tower. Construction is expected to begin in 2027, and current planning indicates the project could be completed by 2033.
Initial details shared by the company show that the upcoming complex will bring together multiple units involved in future technology development. These teams include software research groups, battery cell research operations, electric vehicle technology functions and AI-focused software units. The company added that the Kaohsiung base will act as a central point for coordinating activities across its southern Taiwan operations.
Data provided by local authorities shows that Foxconn’s investments in Kaohsiung over the past three years have reached about T$25 billion, or approximately $802 million. The new headquarters will be added to the list of projects the company has undertaken as it expands its presence in the region.
Industry observers note that such long-horizon projects signal Foxconn’s continued shift toward technology segments outside traditional electronics assembly. The concentration of research and development groups in a single location is expected to support internal coordination as the company works on EV platforms, energy storage components and smart-city technologies.
The company is expected to release more detailed development timelines as the project advances. Planning and regulatory work is likely to continue through the next two years before construction activities begin in 2027.
