Business Emerge, August 17: Ford Motor has announced a recall of approximately 85,000 Explorer SUVs due to concerns over potential engine fire risks. This recall specifically targets models equipped with the Police Interceptor Utility package, designed to enhance performance, durability, and cargo capacity compared to standard civilian models.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the issue arises from a possible motor failure that could lead to oil and fuel leakage within the engine compartment. If these fluids accumulate near ignition sources, there is a heightened risk of fire.
The recall impacts Ford Explorer SUVs from model years 2020-2022, particularly those outfitted with 3.3L hybrid and gas engines. Ford urges owners of the affected vehicles to take immediate action by contacting their local dealerships for inspection and necessary repairs.
