A considerable number of HSBC customers in the UK faced a frustrating online banking issue that prevented them from accessing the bank’s website and mobile app. The bank acknowledged the interruption in service and expressed regret for any inconvenience caused to its customers.
“We deeply regret any inconvenience our customers may be experiencing while trying to access their personal online and mobile banking,” the bank announced on social media platform X. Unfortunately, no clear explanation was given for the outage.
According to reports from the website DownDetector, which keeps track of such disruptions, more than 7,000 customers had filed complaints by 0846 GMT.
Numerous customers expressed their frustration on social media, highlighting their difficulties in accessing funds and paying bills due to the outage.
British banks have been facing ongoing problems with disruptions to their online banking services in recent years. This issue is becoming increasingly urgent as banks are actively promoting the use of online banking services to reduce expenses associated with physical branches.
